Cartoons have made a decent part of our childhood and some people even watch in their early adulthood. Then you have people that, regardless of their age, will continue to follow their favorite cartoon characters as they associate themselves to the characters and share a special bond with them. There have been thousands of characters in the world of cartoons but some of them achieved fame all over the globe. Here, we are going to talk about what cartoon characters are famous and are watched all over the world.
Homer J. Simpson
Created in 1987, Homer J Simpson is the art of Matt Groening and voice of Dan Castellaneta. If you watch it from the start, you will find that the first couple of seasons are more centric towards Bart Simpson. But as the story progresses, it all focuses on Homer and this is where the show becomes very special. Perhaps the laziest, drunkest, dumbest, and hungriest man you will find on the planet, Homer comes with a very good heart and a hero that saves the day at last. On air for two decades and featuring in over 450 episodes, Homer is certainly something special.
We all remember the rabbit with prominent teeth and carrot in his hand, glued to our TV screens and watching him doing some cool stuff. The character was created in 1938 by Tex Avery and is a blend of a rabbit, hare, and cat, most probably trying to show a cool rabbit. It features the legendary voice of Mel Blanc as the character often finds himself in trouble by going into the wrong direction, particularly when moving around the New Mexico. You will see him being followed by Elmer Fudd and his shotgun, hunted by Yosemite Sam and his unique pistols, and in Marvin Martian and his ACME Disintegration Pistol’s radar. But he always manages to use his mind and pull off some unique stunts to win the hearts of children.
Tom and Jerry
Who does not love this cat and mouse chase? Sometimes, you will see them fighting like enemies and on other occasions, they may join the forces to fight with a third party. The characters were created in 1940 by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera and 114 episodes went on screen between 1940 and 1958. Nevertheless, you might still see them occasionally, lighting up TV screens for the kids of modern era.
Other famous characters
There is a big list and some very strong candidates for the most famous cartoon characters of all time. However, we can only mention a few and here they are.
